Chronological Format for Resumes While many variations of a Chronological Resume are possible, as one can readily see by examining a book on resume writing, a general format and then an example are provided below: General Format for a Chronological Resume NAME STREET ADDRESS CITY, STATE, ZIP CODE HOME TELEPHONE OBJECTIVE State concisely the type of work you wish to do and the skills that you have. EDUCATION List most recent first, state the name of the university attended, degree, major (and possibly minor) fields of study, GPA if at least a "B average" and any certifications received. For a more experienced person the education can be placed just before the "References:" shown below. WORK EXPERIENCE Most recent organization in city and state with job title and dates ● Have three to seven bullet points showing major accomplishments. Do same for previous organizations. Show volunteer work, if paid experience is lacking. ● Have three to seven bullet points showing major accomplishments. AFFILIATIONS State positions or offices held. AWARDS: List at least two if you have this section. SPECIAL SKILLS: Language fluency, knowledge of computers or office machines, special equipment, or other unique talents that are relevant. REFERENCES: Either state "Furnished upon request" or list names, titles and addresses of a few to several business, academic or character references on separate page.
